1. the latest trends in tattoos

Tattoos have been around for thousands of years. While body art was originally reserved for specific sectors, lately we have seen tattoos appearing almost everywhere in the world. These days, a tattooed left arm no longer means you’re regulated to the fringes.

As tattooing becomes more prevalent and accepted by society, we see all kinds of tattoo designs emerge. some of our favorites have been found in the arms of chefs and foodies alike.

From a cheeky dancing pie to the different cuts of meat explained on a pig, food tattoos have become a standard in the culinary world. Think of a famous chef like Anthony Bourdain, whose arms were covered in different designs, and you can see how attractive it could be to paint some kind of ingredient on your body. From full menu sleeve tattoos to mini pork chop tattoos and visionary tattoo quotes, these culinary tattoos have become synonymous with chefs and the stories they want to share.

The simple truth is that you look great if you’re a chef with a culinary tattoo. To me, a good chef tattoo screams “I’m someone worthy of respect, someone who doesn’t take himself too seriously, and someone who’s really into his craft.”

2. the cons of getting a tattoo

While I recognize that a hand tattoo is not for everyone, I see body art tattoos as a form of self-expression and a celebration of art worth exploring. I love tattoos I already have quite a few and have been wanting more.

However, for many people, tattoos have a strong sentimental meaning. For others, tattoos are simply a way to support a tattoo artist and their art.

Whether you’re a person interested in a little ink or not, we need to consider the potential downsides of getting a tattoo.

While you may be obsessed with something at this stage in your life, that may very well change as you get older.

For example, let’s say you’ve been drinking a delicious smoothie every morning. Let’s say you love your morning routine so much that you’re thinking about getting a tattoo to commemorate it. While I respect a tattoo of one of your smoothie bowls as much as the next, you might prefer toast for breakfast later.

Knowing that you can’t remove that tattoo, without a very expensive and painful procedure, is key to making sure you want to have something on your body permanently. That said, a skilled artist can likely cover something up with a new tattoo design, so forever doesn’t necessarily mean forever.

In our parents’ generation, it was much less common to see tattoos on someone’s sleeve in certain companies or jobs. These days, tattoos are becoming more and more common as the stigma around them is reduced. Personally, I would say that if your company thinks of tattoos as a deal breaker, you might want to consider whether you really want to work for that company.

I also heard people wonder if you can still go to heaven with tattoos or not. my answer to that is of course you can (if heaven is a concept you subscribe to)! whatever higher spirit or god there is, i can assure you that you will not be punished for having an old school mother at heart with an arrow tattoo. I’d venture to guess god might even have some tattoos.

As a former restaurant waiter, I’ve seen a lot of clever culinary tattoos in my time. A chef friend of mine once told me that getting a food tattoo was a right of passage after graduating from culinary school. From blueberry pie tattoos to a stunning back piece filled with zucchini spirals, there’s a whole world of cool tattoos you can explore more of here.

the following are some of our favorite tattoos taken from our dalstrong community via our facebook, instagram and twitter feed that we wanted to share to inspire the next generation of people who will run a kitchen with style. Be sure to reach out to us on one of those platforms (or our YouTube and TikTok) if you have any sick ink that we may have missed.

We’ve divided some of our fan favorites into two sections: the chef’s knife tattoo and the food tattoo.

1. the chef’s knife

Whether you’re the sous chef, the morning pastry chef, or the executive chef, this skull and knife arm tattoo is sure to earn you some respect in the kitchen. Taking inspiration from a more vintage tattoo design, with the smoking skull in a bowler hat, we can’t get enough of this black and white tattoo.

Hats off to this dude for knowing how to rock a solid tattoo while using the best of the best kitchen tools including the frost fire series and the shadow black series.

As a fan of both knives and orca whales, I’m in love with one of the most unique tattoos I’ve come across today (and ever). from the galaxy-like color palette to the possible plant-based food message, we can dig it.

Also, look at that tattooed chef showing off the 8.5″ omega stellar series kiritsuke chef’s knife collector’s set. This is someone who really doesn’t mess around with his cookware.

We love this tattooed chef for the bold statement he’s making with this piece. the combination of a flaming skull in a chef’s hat and the two knives to replace the usual bones shows us that this chef means business.

While this may not be the tattoo for any mainstream market, we’d like to try whatever they’re cooking up.

Done in the neo-traditional style, this tattooed chef hits the nail on the head having what a great chef tattoo should include: a knife, a chef’s hat, and fresh ingredients. We love the color, the illustration, and the fact that this woman knows exactly how to handle her chef’s knife.
