Occasionally I get requests from others if they can use one of my drawings for a tattoo.
This is why I wanted to create a blog post dedicated to simple and meaningful tattoo ideas for anyone looking for the right tattoo design for them.
I have included in each tattoo a meaning that I often associate with it.
However, you are free to reinterpret the tattoos to have your own special meanings.
Some tattoo ideas only have one design and others have two or more to choose from. I hope you enjoy them!

1. sunrise
here is a simple tattoo of a sunrise (or sunset). For me, sunrises are a reminder of a new beginning. a new day.
no matter what happens to me today, the sun will set and rise and a new day will come.
2. bulb
light bulbs mean ideas to me. ideas are the beginning of everything new in life.
Light bulbs can also symbolize intuition. an inner light within you that illuminates the paths and the decisions you must make.
3. songbird
birds that fly and sing represent freedom.
the freedom to fly wherever you want to go and express your heart without worrying if it’s good enough or not.
4. shooting star
When we see a shooting star, we make a wish.
getting a shooting star tattoo (for me) is a reminder that we are free to wish whenever we want and also to bring you good luck so that your wishes come true at the right time for you.
I’ve also included two versions of a shooting star tattoo below to give you options.
5. open door
I remember sometimes dreaming of being in a labyrinth with hundreds of doors and getting lost trying to find which door to open.
I hope this tattoo reminds you that no matter what door you choose to open, you’ll be fine.
what is meant for you will meet you half way to find you and that the unknown things on the other side will come together to show you that everything was meant to be 🙂
6. lightning
lightning symbolizes power, illumination and the unpredictable. sometimes it can be scary, sometimes exciting.
7. internal dialogue
I hope this tattoo reminds you to talk to yourself with love every time you see it 🙂
It seems to me that just random affirmations said out loud from time to time produce big changes in one’s life. I hope you try it for yourself too!
8. bandaid and flowers
this is a tattoo for anyone who has been hurt before. I hope that the pain heals with time and that good and beautiful things come into your life instead of the pain.
9. mountains
Mountains can symbolize overcoming obstacles and continuing to climb to reach new heights and perspectives.
10. word or quote
If you have a favorite word or quote, why not use it as a tattoo?
I also think it’s a great idea to have a loved one write a synonymous word and tattoo it in their own handwriting.

11. footprint
here are two versions of a footprint that you can choose to use as a tattoo.
Footprint tattoos can symbolize the “footprint” you want to leave behind in this world.
can also serve as a reminder to take one step at a time. don’t rush forward, but savor every step you take in life.
12. wings
the wings represent freedom. it can also symbolize angels.
I included both single wing and double wing tattoo designs, depending on which one works for you.
13. four leaf clover
here’s a tattoo for anyone who wants a little more good luck in their life 🙂
14. jar
This is a tattoo for anyone who has been locking their true self or feelings inside themselves. I hope this drawing inspires you to open up and let things out from time to time 🙂
15. sun and moon
I wanted to create a sun and moon tattoo as one.
There are many dualities in life: we can think of them as separate, but the beauty of each can only be fully felt because the other exists.
16. push
This is just a fun little tattoo I did to play with the idea of reaching someone’s heart (or it can be yours too)
17. butterfly
here is a butterfly tattoo idea with hearts as wings.
butterflies symbolize transformation and change. You can use this tattoo to symbolize your own heart and the transformations you have been through in life.
I also believe that couples can use this tattoo to symbolize two hearts growing together through change.
18. house
home represents a place where we can feel safe, cozy and comfortable.
I hope anyone who gets this tattoo feels at home in their body and with themselves.
at the end of the day, no matter where in the world we are or who we are with, we will always be with ourselves and we are our own home.
let’s make peace with ourselves so we can feel that way over time.
19. fish
Sometimes I get into a state of anxiety because I get stressed over every little thing and have to remind myself to step back and see things from a bigger perspective.
Imagine that we are all fish swimming in a sea of stars in the vast universe.
Whether we go with the flow or decide to swim upstream, it doesn’t really matter because we can swim any way we want. the universe is our home and the stars are our guides to help us along the way.
20. seedlings
I hope this tattoo reminds you that no matter who you become in the future, we all start out as little seedlings that grow at our own pace.
21. comet
For me, kites act as a reminder to go with the wind.
personally, I find the wind and breeze comforting, as if mother nature is reaching out to us.
22. doodle
Life sometimes gets messy and confusing. I hope this tattoo reminds you that you will get through these tough times.
23. bleeding heart
I created this tattoo based on the bleeding heart flower.
there are times when we hurt ourselves or the heart just wants to cry. we become the person we are because we have gone through these periods in life.
We are as beautiful as flowers because of our hearts.
24. crown
The crown tattoo is a reminder that you are a “king” or a “queen”. a “prince” or “princess”. you are beautiful, strong, precious, majestic… whatever you want to be, believe it!
25. sailboat
A sailboat tattoo can mean going with the flow, traveling, adventuring and exploring.
26. stars
Stars can symbolize many things: wishes, guidance, support, light, hope and faith.
For me, the stars remind me of all those who look down on us, supporting and guiding us.
I’ve included several different versions of stars below so you can choose one that suits your taste.
27. lion
Lions often symbolize courage and strength. I hope this tattoo idea reminds you of your own strength and that you can overcome more than you can imagine.
28. arrow and heart
Show that your heart has already been taken with this tattoo idea of a heart shot with an arrow.
29. flowers
Flowers symbolize growth, transformation, abundance, beauty and so many other things. Below are two simple flower tattoo ideas to try.
30. acorn
huge oak trees start out first as little acorns. oak trees represent wisdom, strength and endurance, but they all have their roots as cute acorns at the beginning.
31. clouds
I love clouds so here is a simple cloud tattoo idea.
clouds look soft, puffy, beautiful and drift across the sky. looking up at the sky always soothes my heart.
32. dog

33. cat
